2006 News

December

We welcome our latest recruit for the Redlands team- Storm.  Storm is a 5 year old thoroughbred gelding with four white socks.  He has come all the way from Victoria to join us!  Mel will be riding Storm and they will be out and about in 2007.

Merry Christmas to everyone and a fantastic new year- don’t forget to write your New Year’s resolutions! Stay safe.

Some very sad news to report. Poor Dylan has died on Thursday the 14th December after a freak accident in the paddock. We had only had Dylan a short time but had certainly grown to love him and were looking forward to his show career. RIP Dylan and we will miss you.

Java Jacobson has again been in the trophies at the Matcham Valley Awards Night!  She came home with Overall club champion- Highest Points in all disciplines for 2006, The Mark Maloy Interclub Day Sporting Trophy for highest points in all ages for sporting, and the Missy Parker Memorial trophy for highest points at Interclubs in all ages.  Congratulations to Java and her family, I’m so glad all your hard work in 2006 had paid off!  I look forward to 2007!

Alice, Niamh and I ventured to Bowral today for the dressage day with Sparky and Ojay.  Their first dressage competition, Alice was 3rd in the 1.3 test and Niamh 6th in the same test.  We all had a great day and managed to catch up with Sarah and Emma Adams which was really fun, and got to hear what all their horses have been up to!

We’re all looking forward to the next show season!

November

Congratulations to our successful riders and horses at the 2006 Pony Club Jamboree.  Despite the heat dust and excessive flies a great time was had by everyone!  Our youngest rider Java Jacobson and the brilliant Ice Cream won many events and went on to win Champion Rider Under 8 years and also the Highest Pointscore of the Jamboree!  Mel Lynch and Nick also had a great weekend winning many events and Reserve Champion in the 16 years age group!    Well done to Java, Mel, Niamh, Alice and their very supportive families.  Matcham Valley also won the Champion Pony Club of Zone 24.

My brilliant Tassie also has continued on his winning ways with his new family and was awarded Galloway of the Year at the NSW HOTY show!  There is just no stopping Tassie and I hope he is successful for a long time to come, no doubt he will be because he is the best horse in the world!  (Cover your ears all other Redlands horses.)

Congratulations to Sarah and all of Tassie’s new connections.

Some new horses in the camp as well with Megs finally getting a pony of her own, the beautiful Zack who is residing at Redlands.  Mel also has a new horse, the newly named Dylan who has a great future ahead of him.  He will be out and about next year.

September

Well I’m back from my world trip and all caught up on sleep so it’s time for some updates!  I hope everyone has had a nice holiday break and ready to get back to riding!  I have been off to Europe for the past month or so, visiting places throughout Scandanavia and Russia.  I certainly had an interesting time!  I missed all my girls through and was happy to come home! Java and Ice Cream managed to make it out to a show while I was away and she won Reserve Champion at the Wyong Interclub Day!  I also took Mel and Java to Cooranbong Interclub on the weekend.  Java had a very successful day winning lots of events and took out Champion in her age group.  Mel also had a great day winning three firsts, one second and three thirds.  Well done!!

What a great result Tassie and here are some photos of him as well as one from the Grand Nationals where he got Runner Up. Congratulations also to Java, Niamh, Melissa, Jessie, Mikaela and Alice who all had ribbons to bring home from the Mangrove Mountain Show yesterday.

Congratulations to our girls who have started pony club this year (Melissa, Alice, Niamh) and all who have started competing. Java Jacobson won Champion in the Under 8's at her first Interclub this year and has been bringing home alot of ribbons recently! All the girls competed at the Matcham Interclub and all had ribbons to bring home, the star of the day being Melissa who won Reserve Champion in the 15 years age group! Go Mel! It was also Sparkys and Niamhs first Interclub and he behaved like an absolute champion and won quite a few ribbons in the hacking events. Keep up all the hard work girls.

Jessie has purchased a new pony named Star and she has started Pony Club at Bouddi along with Paris and Misty. Hope to see them all at some competitions soon! Ashlea has been enjoying riding Ojay this week at the camp, who is back from 'studying' at Karingal Equestrian Center. Ojay is just beautiful with the biggest movement and I can't wait to take him out to some shows. Karen and Hayley have been doing a great job training him while I'm in Sydney during the week.

Full brothers Ojay and Sparky get reaquainted at the camp and Ojay and Ashley

And of course very exciting news to hear that Tassie won Runner Up at the 2006 Grand National Saddle Horse and Riding Championships!!!! He truly is a legend and has been having great success with his new family. Well done Sarah and Tassie and of course Tim Hadlow who rode Tas on this particular occassion. Ashley Roberts also had success at the Grand Nationals riding Dolly and won Runner up in the Small Show Hunter Pony Section. Go Ashley!
