2009 Latest News

December

Another year almost over!  I would like to wish all our clients and friends a wonderful and safe Christmas and New Year.  Thank you all for your support over 2009.  Lets make 2010 even better!

Phoebe’s long awaited foal finally made an appearance, a beautiful bay colt with a big blaze.  He is like a kangaroo at the moment, bounding around all over the place with his mega long legs!  He looks to have amazing movement, no surprise really considering his breeding. We have named him Dexter, no show name as yet.

Ojay, Jess and I made the long trip to Victoria for the EFA Nationals, which was great fun.  Ojay was his usual reliable self but was unlucky on this occasion unfortunately.  He was also ridden in the junior riders by WA rider Sienna Bergensen (pictured right) , and he gave her an amazing ride.   We look forward to trying to make the team again next year!

Some great results from our young riders who attended the jamboree.  Congratulations to everyone.

Ojay and Jess and the gnome at EFA Nationals!!

November

Angelina gave birth to a beautiful filly early on 6th November.  We have named her “Ivy” she is a dark chestnut with two back socks and a star like mum, and very elegant indeed!  Keep tuned for photos.

Redlands Rio has been sold to Allison Jackson of Victoria.  Congratulations!

October

A very warm welcome to Jessie Castle who has joined the team at Redlands as a working pupil!  Jessie has already proven herself a great worker and huge help not only to Georgia but to the younger riders.  Jessie has been showing horses for many years so brings with her lots of experience!   Jessie’s horse Next Chapter is also residing at Redlands and has proven a valuable addition to our show team.

Well done Sophie Walker and her new pony Oscar!!  Sophie attended the Arndell Interschool Competition and was awarded Champion rider as well as several other wins and placings.  Congratulations Sophie (pictured right)

Some great result from Java Jacobson and Mandy at Morriset on Monday where they won both Champion Junior Rider and Champion Galloway!  They are becoming a great team.

Some great success on the weekend at the State riding pony show.  Shelby Bragg has been working very hard with Princess and her determination paid off when she was awarded Champion First Ridden Pony, as well as Champion Ridden Show pony under 12.2hh!  Congratulations Shelby! (pictured left)

We welcome to the team the lovely Standing Ovation of Astral!  “Marty” is currently being ridden by Madison Dawson.  Marty is a bay gelding standing 13.2hh, he is a real sweetheart.  Watch out for Madi and Marty at some shows soon!

Another new addition- Baringa Brave Heart.  “Robbie” hasn’t been shown for a couple of years but I’m sure it won’t take him long to get back into things!  He is a chestnut gelding standing 14hh, he has the most amazing movement!

September

Some great results from our young riders Madison Dawson and Shelby Bragg who both rode Pearl in the unofficial ring at the Minto Show. They pretty much scooped the pool winning many champions including Champion Pony and Champion and Reserve Rider.  Great effort girls, well done!

Jessie Payne and Myscal Jasmine have been having a lot of success recently and on Saturday Jessie won CHAMPION junior girl rider at Penrith Ag Show.  What a great result, well done Jess.  Jessie and Kathy have also taken over the training of Redlands Rainstorm (Bullseye) and they are doing a great job with him so far.  I hope to see him at some shows soon! Bullseye is such a lovely pony and it is great to see him doing something at last!

August

Farewell to Niamh Ramsay who has gone to France for six months on exchange.  I know we are all going to miss her alot!

We welcome a new addition to our team, the super cute Marco!  Marco is 11.2hh Welsh A gelding, he has already got all the mares in line.  He loves being ridden bareback and getting lots of cuddles.

Mirinda Silver Knight has now been gelded and is commencing his training.  He has matured into an amazing pony with the most breathtaking movement.  Archie has just turned 3 years old.

Some great results from our girls at the CCDA show at Il Cadore.  Java Jacobson and Mandy had their first outing together and came home with Champion Galloway and Champion Rider.  What a great result, congratulations Java!  Taylor Kerrigan and Hemi also had their first outing together and came home with Champion Pony.  Well done Taylor!

Our show season has now commenced and we are extremely busy!  Look out for some great results.

July

Well I have certainly been busy (as usual.)  We had a great weekend at the Winter Woollies show with two of the girls and their horses having their first outing.  Redlands Rio (Storm) and Dare to Dream (Johnny) both behaved beautifully and had quite a few ribbons to bring home.  They finished first and second in the novice hack!  Well done Mikaela Anderson and Katie Impey.  Megan McGillivray also won the led Galloway class with Dino.  Well done Megs!

At the same show Niamh Ramsay and Bayview Breathtaking (Tyson) (Pictured right) came home with Champion show hunter Galloway.  Although Tyson didn’t know quite what to make of the pintos he still managed to pull off a great workout!  Jessica Payne and Myscal Jasmine were awarded Champion Junior rider. (Pictured below)   Lucy Payne  also came home with a stack of ribbons from the beginners ring.  Congratulations to Niamh, Jess and Lucy!

We are running our first ever camp for the advanced riders at Redlands and this booked out in record time.   Our regular camp is also booked out.  Should be a busy school holidays!

Merivale Park Royal Invitation has settled in extremely well and wow he is even better than I had hoped.  He loves sleeping in in the mornings- no matter how many children I send in to lie on him he won’t get up until he is good and ready!   Ryley has established his place as the star of the show- his fan club is huge!!

Congratulations to Shelby and Jenna Bragg who are growing up fast- Jenna who got her ears pierced today and Shelby lost her first tooth!

June

A very exciting addition to the team.  It is not too often a true superstar comes along but I feel confident I have found one! Merivale Park Royal Invitation has arrived at Redlands Stables, I am so greatful to Judy Ivory for letting us buy this little man.  Ryley is all class, elegance and grace, extravagant movement, and to top it all off, the most laid back friendly temperament I have ever seen in a foal.  He is only six months old at the moment!  Ryley is by Myscal Encore out of the beautiful thoroughbred mare Lunch Abroad.  I look forward to showing him in hand soon.

Congratulations also to Rebecca Shelton who has purchased Zac from Megan McGillivray.  Zac is enjoying all the attention he is getting!  Bec will be starting pony club with Zac soon.  Well done Bec and Fiona.

May

Congratulations to Java Jacobson who is the lucky new owner of Millawarrah Mandalay.  Mandy has been purchased from Lizzie Krog in Victoria.  Lizzie has had much success with Mandy in both her rider and Galloway classes.  Mandy and Java will be out and about soon!

Shelby and Jenna Bragg have purchased a new pony, the beautiful ‘Pearl’.  Pearl stands at 12.1hh and she is just the sweetest pony in the world.  She loves talking to everyone and lots of cuddles!  She made her first appearance with us at Gosford Show where Jenna won the leading rein class for ponies under 12.2hh, rider under 8.  Congratulations to Shelby, Jenna, Karen and Murray.

Congratulations also to Madison Dawson who has taken over the lease on Raleigh Mignonette.

April

Congratulations to Java Jacobson who rode Redlands Outrageous to win Champion Junior rider at the Pacific Coast Hack Championships!  This qualifies Java for the Grand Nationals in 2010.  Well done Java.

Redlands Outrageous has once again come through with the goods and on Sunday the 19th April 2009 he was awarded CHAMPION SHOW HUNTER PONY at the Sydney Royal Easter Show!  What a thrill, he is such a good boy.  Ojay is the oldest horse I have bred so far and I only hope I can breed some more as talented as he is!  Java Jacobson also rode Ojay in her turnout class at Sydney Royal and she was awarded 3rd place in a very strong class.  Congratulations Java, her first turnout event!

March

Redlands Outrageous has continued on his winning ways being awarded Runner Up at the EFA HOTY show.  This qualifies him for the EFA Nationals held at Werribee in December.  Looks like we will be taking a road trip!  I am thrilled how well he has been doing recently, and he still has so much more potential.

Federation Blue has been confirmed in foal to Sandrels (imp) a black Warmblood stallion. (Thought I’d breed something big for a change!) Sandrels is 17.1hh and Phoebe being almost as big this foal will definitely be a leggy one.  She is due late this year.

Redlands Stables is certainly growing so to cope with our large number of horses I have leased a 40 acre property at Jilliby.  There is loads of grass for the ponies to munch on and grow up (or enjoy their retirement!) I will also be able to offer agistment to outside horses.  This would be ideal for young or old horses that are not being ridden, there is no arena on the property although there are many trails around the area.  I took Claudia, Lisa and Angelina up there today and their eyes nearly bugged out of their heads when they saw all the grass!  They hadn’t lifted their heads from eating by the time I left! So we will certainly have some happy horses and hopefully a bit more grass at home now too.  Pictured are the horses enjoying themselves!

A few new horses in the camp for our young riders.

Shelby and Jenna Bragg have purchased the beautiful 12hh mare Wattles Jezabelle, who is a multi royal winner and has done very well both led and ridden.  Shelby and Jenna will both get to ride “Princess” as she is known, in leading rein classes and various other events!  Princess has the eyes of an angel, she is super cute.  Jenna Bragg won both her under 6 rider classes at Bathurst Royal riding Princess.

Jessica Payne has purchased the amazing Myscal Jasmine, a multi royal champion Galloway.  Jazz has been so very successful in her hunter classes and was also ridden by Stephanie Barrington for many rider class championships.  Jazz is an absolute dream, the ultimate schoolmaster.

Mikaela Anderson has purchased a wonderful show hunter small hack, named Dare to Dream.  He is bay with four white socks and a blaze, and amazing floating movement.  Johnnie has travelled a long way to join our team, and he will commence showing with Mikaela in 2009.

Congratulations to all these girls, it is always an exciting time to welcome new horses into the camp!

Bathurst royal was successful with everyone bringing home the ribbons.  Redlands Outrageous was awarded Reserve Champion show hunter pony which qualifies him again for the Grand Nationals in 2010.

Canberra Royal

We have had a fabulous Canberra Royal Show this year, with all our horses bringing home ribbons.  The highlight being Redlands Outrageous who was sashed Champion Large Hunter pony!  Go Ojay, this was his first Canberra under saddle.   Ojay also carried Java to 3rd in her girl rider class.

Bayview Breathtaking also won his ridden ANSA class, at his first royal show.  He worked beautifully at only his fifth show ever!  Well done Niamh.

January

Our beautiful Sparky was lost to colic on Wednesday, a very sad day for all of us.  Rest in peace Sparky, I am sorry I won’t get to see you grow old.

Some new stars on the horizon!  We attended the Sydney Regional Hack Exhibitors Show on the weekend, where Shelby and Jenna Bragg had their first outing with Raleigh Mignonette.  Surprise, surprise, Icey was her usual 'dream pony' self and safely carried Jenna and Shelby to win several ribbons!  Shelby topped off the day by taking out the 'Best Beginner Rider of the Show" and won a sash and a saddlecloth.  Jenna definitely won the 'cutest rider of the show' (as proclaimed by all who saw her). Well done girls, a fantastic result. Shelby is pictured with her prizes.

Niamh Ramsay and Bayview Breathtaking also were in the winners circle, taking out 'Best Novice horse of show.' Well done Tyson, who has behaved impeccably for a horse of his age, at every show so far this year.  Niamh also won her rider class.  GO TEAM!
