September

Congratulations to all our girls on a great weekend of showing.  Kolbeach Promise had her first outing taking out Supreme Pony at Gosford Ag Show!  Java Jacobson won Champion junior rider at both Penrith and Gosford, as well as reserve hunter at Gosford and 1st in the childs at Penrith.  Well done to Shelby Bragg who won Reserve Champion Junior rider at Penrith!  Salisbury Something Special made her debut under saddle with some great results, winning her intermediate and open at Penrith and 1st in the intermediate and 2nd in the open at Gosford.   She is such a good girl, with a bit more education and experience she will be well on her way to big things!  Thanks to all our helpers and parents, an exhausting but rewarding weekend.

August

Rest in Peace Sarah

I thought she would go on forever but it wasn’t to be, she was laid to rest Sunday the 8th August, aged 28.  A very sad day.

Sarah was given to me by a friend almost ten years ago to use in the school, she had been used as a broodmare for most of her life and had a successful show career as a young Arabian mare.  Some of her foals were apparently very successful endurance horses selling for lots of money overseas.  When Sarah came here she really hadn’t done much work under saddle at all, but she caught on quickly.  She had slow smooth paces and showed many a rider how to canter.  Sarah also was not a bad jumper- one year at our show I think she did clear round for about 12 of the kids who all chose to ride her in the jumping!   Eventually winning almost all of the ribbons in that event!  So many of our young riders have learnt on Sarah over the years.  She was a much loved member of our family, and Lady and her were inseperable. We will all miss you Sarah, you are truly irreplacable.  A huge loss for Redlands and all our young riders.

Sold Horses

Congratulations to Madi and Gwen Dawson who are the lucky new owners of ‘Bug’.  Madi has been leasing Bug for some time and they decided to purchase him.  Awesome!

As you all know by now the Redlands Show was rained out!  The new date is Saturday, September 4th.  The show will be held over one day only starting from 9am, and followed by our awards night and end of year party!  It is a ‘red theme’ party so you must wear something red!  There will be dinner and drinks provided, BYO alcoholic drinks.  The party starts at 5pm and finishes at 8pm, all kids are invited to the sleepover party afterwards (bring your sleeping bag.)

Two lucky ponies are heading off to new homes in Queensland.  Robbie has been sold to Ellen Osmond, who plans to compete in pony dressage with him.  A perfect home for him, and I wish Ellen the best of luck.  Watch out Queensland!  Marco has been sold to Paul Sortwell for his three and a half year old daughter.  Again a wonderful home, where Marco will be spoiled rotton!  I look forward to photographs and updates.

Apart from that all that’s been going on here is rain, mud, and more rain, my apologies to all those who have had to miss lessons.  Bring on spring!

July

Some new homes for some of our four legged friends.

Redlands Outrageous has been sold to Java Jacobson, this pair are already well acquainted!  I didn’t think I would ever part with Ojay, but as he is not going far it was the right decision. I have so many others to ride!  Best of luck Java and Ojay with your continued success.

Mayflower Paspaley has been sold to the Urbain family from QLD, and their two lucky children. Congratulations and best of luck with Pearl.  She is a darling.

My beautiful Redlands Romance has also found a new home with lots of little girls to love and ride her,  the Carrigan Family from Northern NSW.  Sounds like Toppy is the belle of the ball up there!  I glad she has found a family to realise her potential with.  She is certainly a very special and beautiful girl.  Good luck Toppy, do me proud.

So, still in a winter break, I have had a lovely holiday in Europe for the last four weeks!  I got to see London, Paris, Rome, Capri, Florence, Cinque Terra, Venice, Milan, Nice, Monte Carlo, and lots of other exciting places.  I had the BEST time.  It is not very often I get away and thanks so much for Jess who ran everything while I was away and from all reports she did a fantastic job.  THANK YOU JESS!

April

EFA NSW HOTY SHOW: (pictured right)
More good times at the EFA Horse of the Year Show with Redlands Outrageous going Runner Up Large Show Hunter Pony, and Jenna Bragg and Wattles Jezabelle winning Runner Up Leading Rein pony.   Looking forward to another fun road trip with Ojay and Princess to Werribee in Victoria!!

SYDNEY ROYAL:
Congratulations to our girls who competed at Sydney Royal this year.  For those who don’t know, qualifiying for the Sydney Royal Show starts over a year before the show takes place, with both the riders and horses needing to gain 1st places at agricultural shows throughout NSW.   Many weekends are spent travelling to shows in order to gain enough points! Even to be accepted to compete is a huge honour and recognition of the previous years effort.   So well done girls.

Java Jacobson rode Redlands Outrageous for 1st place in the turnout class for girls 9 and under 12 years, she also rode Wattles Jezabelle for 5th place in the riding pony mare class.  Shelby Bragg (at her first royal show) beautifully rode Wattles Jezabelle for 8th place in the Childs pony hack class.   Great effort Java and Shelby!

I had some success as well with Redlands Outrageous who was awarded Reserve Champion Show Hunter Pony.  So a good time was had by all!

GRAND NATIONALS AND MORE:
A wonderful and very enjoyable Grand Nationals with Ojay who behaved perfectly (although I think the effort of doing three classes in one weekend nearly killed him!)  Sienna Bergensen from WA rode in her rider class on Friday, then on Sunday Java Jacobson pulled off a great workout to be called into the Top Ten.  Finally my turn Sunday afternoon, in the Large Hunter pony, Ojay gave me a beautiful ride and was called forward for the top ten again.   So I was very pleased with him.

Sunday was also the long awaited day when we brought home the beautiful new addition to the Redlands Team, Kolbeach Promise.  Thank you to Graham and Sue Elliot for selling us this exceptional mare, and to Lynda Hayes, who could not have been more helpful and accommodating.  I have always admired Promise as she is not only the prettiest mare I have ever seen but she has the most divine nature.  She never puts a foot wrong.  Promise comes with an exceptional performance record- multi royal championships led and ridden, National Champion Large Pony, well she has pretty much won everything!  Prommie is owned by Karen Hendriks and myself and we hope to show her under saddle and eventually breed some ‘mini prommies’ for the future.

March

We welcome to the team being leased by Madison Dawson the lovely Nanteous Autumn Glade aka Bug.  Bug has been imported from New Zealand where he had started a very successful career winning Supreme Led Welsh Exhibit at the Auckland Royal Easter Show, Rising Star Show pony of the Year at HOTY, National First Ridden Pony of the Year, National Reserve Champion Leading rein and Champion Novice Exhibit at the New Zealand National Horse and Pony Show. Bug is a welsh A gelding with a temperament to die for.  Look out for Madi and Bug at some shows soon!

February

February went very fast, and we have done barely any shows so far this year!  Canberra Royal was a great success, with everyone having some ribbons to bring home.  Ojay took out the double winning both his open hunter and his Riding Pony hunter classes!
Congratulation to Caroline and Cassidy Attewell, who have purchased Bayview Breathtaking from Niamh Ramsay. Niamh is now at boarding school so doesn’t have much time to ride!  Lucky for Cass, who is going great so far with Tyson.

Another very exciting new addition to Redlands Stables will be arriving at the end of March!  Stay tuned for more details....

January

January camps were a fantastic success thanks to our well behaved and fun loving campers, helpful parents and of course Jenny Pond at Forrest Hill Stud.  Thanks to Jenny who allowed us to run the camps at her place, complete with our many, many horses!  All of the kids had a fantastic time.  Swimming in the dam was definitely a highlight on some of those hot days, and everyone enjoyed the high ropes course at Treetops adventure park!  We also visited amazement, exploring some fantastic mazes, fun games, and playing with baby rabbits and other animals.  Horse riding was great fun both out in the paddocks and on the trails, and we ended each week with a gymkhana, complete with lots of ribbons for everyone.  Night times were also action packed, with arts and crafts, dance party night, movie night, and games night.  Needless to say I was sad when we had to go home.  Looking forward to next time!  Stay tuned for dates.
